In this task I have been asked to do research on my client for my music video. My client is 99dollar Music Video.

$99 Music Videos show music videos from today's best independent bands and up and coming filmmakers, all made with a budget of under $99.The company believe that there should be a close link between the film maker and the artist. The company is an independent networking site which helps up and coming acts be the best of today’s music scenes. The network was created by Jack Ferry and other main members apart of the crew. $99 is a website which allows independent bands/artist who have attempted to team up with film makers creating a new and original music video which the website will promote. The company change the video every week, which allows more peoples videos to be shown. However because anyone can get involved with this they set certain rules. The company provides $99 for artists who are not signed to create a good and creative music video with a filmmaker featured on their website.

99dollarmusicvideos.com have an ethos which mean that they have certain rules when making a music video. The music video must be made for $99 or less. Also the music video must be shot in 24 hours, and also must be edited in 24 hours. Lastly it must be a collaboration between the band and the filmmaker. So when making my music video i will have to come up with a plan in order to film in 24 hours and edit in 24 hours.

What types, label and genres of music appears on their website.

The website is only for artists that have not been signed. Artists that have funding and management will not be helped by the website with cost because the point of the website is to help the unsigned artists. The main genre of music is up and coming contemporary music which means it can be indie, pop, rock and many more. The main idea of the website is just to create a interesting and fun and cheap music video which is why the genres of music is so varied. When making my music video i don't really have to make a music video  based on a song with a genera i don't like. 

What is the relationship between 99dollarmusicvideo.com, their film maker and music act.

The website clearly states that there must be a close relationship with the film maker and artist whether it is though collaborating together or giving feedback. So there must be a tight bond between the film maker and the artist this will help the music video be the best it could be, due to the fact that the main to job for making a music video are working together. The collaboration between the artist and film maker must have permission to be done and to use the song and should both except to contribute. The website have been very specific to how they want the different party’s to work together, they want them to both put in ideas and be constructive. So overall both sides should have an equal amount of input. Or if the film maker wants full control over the making of the music video, they need to write a formal letter and send it to the artist, asking for their permission to do so. The artist then needs to sign a sort of contract, which then will give the film marker full permission to do what they want, when making the music video. 

Which cost are and are not included in the $99

The film maker and artist will be given $99 dollars to make the music video. The cost does not include using you own equipment. But it may include costume and props and even renting of a setting to film in. When making my music video I will have to try and find cheap or free props that i my have already, and use public settings that are free to use.

I think that you can make a professional quality music video with $99. This is because you just need good camera shots and angles and good lip-syncing, and lots of different settings, All of this is free of cost very little. Even though with just $99 you can’t use expensive props such as a privet jet or expensive car, you can still make the quality of the music video the same as a professional one.
