Week 9 Production Log (DeadLine week)

What have you contributed this week?
This week was are deadline week for our music video, so this mean that it had to be fully filmed and edited by Tuesday 18th of March. So on that Tuesday we stayed in school until 6:00pm to get our music video completed. Once it was fully edited we showed are teachers and he told use to change a few things, when once that was done, we had to upload are final music video onto YouTube . On Wednesday the 19th we started our evaluation for the music video.

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project?
We fitting into out production schedule by completing our music video on the day given and did not need extra time to do so. Also we stuck to our job roles, due to the fact that I was doing most of the editing as Jasmeet told me what she wanted in the music video as the director.

Were there any problems?
This week we faced little or even no problems. Everything went fine and we got our music video competed to a standard that we were happy with and felt that it will get us top marks.

How did you/will you overcome them?
Because we had no problems we did not have to overcome anything.

What are the plans for the following week?
For the following week I am planning on carrying on with my music video evaluation, hoping I can complete by the end of next week, so that I have time to edit any other coursework that is not up to the best possible grade.

Week 8 Production Week

What have you contributed this week?
This week Jasmeet and I have been carrying on with editing our music video. We had edited our final couple of shots, and making sure the begins is perfect.

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project?
We are currently on track according to out production schedule and, are job roles have really been used to our advantage. I as the main editor have done most of the editing, but as Jasmeet as the main director she has told me many things to change and to add in.

Were there any problems?
There were no problems this week. We new what we had to do, so we just got on with it. We just had to think of different transition from shot to shot.

How did you/will you overcome them?
We spend time looking at the different transition, and thinking which one will best suit our music video

What are the plans for the following week?
Next week we are going to carry on editing and, get our music video completed, because next week is dead line day.

Week 7 Production Log

What have you contributed to this week?
This week me and Jasmeet continued on with our diting. We had managed to get the intro, first verse and chorus edited and finalised. We had realised how difficult it would be to put together shots in a totally new programme to us and found ourselves looking at a lot of YouTube tutorials to help us with editing. We also did some extra filming of the shots that we needed to do in school were I had to film Jasmeet in shots of her walking into the school receptions which is meant to be the hotel. We then uploaded this onto final cut express.

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles/overall ideas for the project?

I am pleased to say that we are on track and on target. We are at a good place at this moment during the task and are not falling behind. Although we have gone through some problems due to the our cast not being able to turn up when we needed them, but we are still on target and are very happy with our upcoming shots. The job roles have been split between both myself and Jasmeet and we have really worked together and helped each other in each task.
Were there any problems?

There was the issue of the introduction of our piece. In previous weeks we had wanted there to be a beginning introduction before the song begins. The reason for this would be because we wanted to give the audience the foundations of the music video so that the audience understand the rest of the song much more.  We thought we had enough footage for this beginning sequence but when it came to the editing of the music video, we both had noticed that it wasn't flowing nicely and looked way to jumpy and the lighting in some of the shots was very bad. We wanted to change this as it wasn't a good start to the music video and it gives a bad idea to the audience to what the rest of it may look like.
How did you/will you overcome them?

To overcome these problems we decided to get ride of the opening of our music video, this then gave us time to focus more on the actually song so that it looks at good as it can.

What are the plans for the following week?

We are going to shoot some extra footage on the chorus to change up the shots and add more close ups. We will also continue the editing process and work toward fridays deadline.

Week 6 Production Log

What have you contributed to this week?
This week we had imported all of our filming we had done into final cut express. This task took a lot of time because we had a lot of footage to unload and look at. We looked at all of the footage and sored through it to see what one we were doing to use for our music video, according to our shooting script. We also watch a few tutorials on YouTube, which gave up a simple idea on how to use final cut express, because it was our first time using it. We also started to edit out first few shots we wanted in our music video.

How does this fit with the production schedule/job roles/overall ideas for the project?
We are currently sticking to our production schedule, and are not falling being on filing or editing. We stuck to our job role because I was the main person to edit the music, with Jasmeet as the director telling me what she liked and how she wanted certain shot to looks. We were lucky that we are on the same wave length because the ideas that we both put across was liked by the other person, so we did not have to try and find a compromise when editing. We had also experimented with a lot of tools in this programme such as the Cross-Dissolve and Fades.

Were there any problems?
When we looked at the footage we noticed that some shots had lighting issues, we tried to lighten them up on final cut express, be the shot looked very unreal and fake. We when decided that we had to re film them shots in order to get the lighting on point. Also when looking through the footage we noticed that we did not film some shots and some shots we did film needed were not sung with a lot of passion by jasmine. So we had to go back to the school studio to re-film them.

How did you/will you overcome them?
To solve this problem we had to re shoot which was not a problem because we were on schedule and were able to fit in a time to do the footage, which made use not fall behind. We are glad we did as it looks much better than it did before. We made sure that the lighting was much brighter naturally which enabled the camera to pick up on facial expressions of each actor much more better.

What are the plans for the following week?
The following week will consist of re shooting the darker shots and school studio shots. We will also be continuing on with the editing to get closer to finishing out music video
